Together We Can Power The World

Quality of Life Around The World Through Renewable Energy

Too much focus is being placed on the need to consume. The green movement and saving energy relies on preservation, not consumerism. In order to gain ground on this movement the general public must believe in small changes that increase quality of life. For example, I have started a free to use website (http://www.adventgreen.com) that saves small amounts of energy while users browse the web. This type of small change is manageable to the average person wanting to make a difference (without the need to install solar panels or having to buy a Prius).

Actually conservation is a very quick way to make an impact and reduce our consumption. However, I think we need to look at the long term solution of how we create clean, efficient and renewable energy that can be delivered where needed for a low cost and high ROI.

We need an energy policy in the US right now. Our political leaders (and candidates) are clueless and are failing us big time. We need a visionary to get this moving now.

I agree with the need to create a long term solution. Of course, like you said, this requires some form of legislation or comprehensive energy policy. Perhaps the various online resources and websites surrounding the green movement in general should combine their efforts to get some of these issues on a higher political agenda.

Dear Jon,
That's right – I agree we need to combine our efforts where possible to create a greater political presence. As we bring on more and more members for our group, we'll be working to create dialogue with other thought leaders in this area, such as Al Gore, Vinod Kholsa, and so on, and our goal will definitely be to pull together as many resources as possible to make change.

Thanks for your participation – let's get even more people involved and make this happen!

Jon,
By the way, AdventGreen is very cool. I like the fact that a simple change (white background vs. black), over so many screens, can make a substantial difference.

Hello Jon,

I like your thinking. A little here, a little there. It's all about a fundamental change of consciousness: from blind consumerism, to awareness of all the little ways we waste.

May I suggest -- if you haven't already -- is to fax out a press release to various news agencies and news clearing houses. Who knows who will pick up on your idea and help get the word out to thousands. A little here, a little there.
