My good buddy Marcelo Garzo and I recently received a grant from UC Berkeley to start the Green Bike Share. The pilot project provides students with healthy and sustainable alternative transportation, allowing access to our fleet of bicycles for up to 48 hours at a time for only $15 a semester. The non-profit seeks to expand into full operational mode by the end of the year as we transition into a larger fleet of bicycles, while integrating innovative web-based bike sharing technology. Green Bike Share plans to establish this model of bicycle sharing at every university and city in the country. Visit GreenBikeShare.org for more information or contact Justin Wiley at jwiley@berkeley.edu
Dear Justin,
Great project! Anything we can do to get more people using efficient transportation methods is so valuable. Most of us don't usually think about the fact that 85-95% of the fuel we use for transportation is to move the CAR, not to move us! Not a very efficient system.
Please keep in touch as your project continues. Hopefully we can find some ways to work together!
