Together We Can Power The World

Quality of Life Around The World Through Renewable Energy

Harley Orion

How far would YOU go to provide electricity for your family??

Help us to end energy-theft deaths in Tijuana, Baja California. Every year Mexican citizens are killed and injured trying to steal electrical power by attaching makeshift wires to high-voltage lines. We CAN help these families by providing them with FREE solar and wind power. Please help us make this happen! Please donate today.

Hi Nan. I'm the social media director for We Can Power the World. We're not affiliated with Pickens, though of course we support wind power generally, and anything that is spreading the word about alternative energy is a great contribution! Our focus is quite different - we are here to talk about renewable energy as a global solution to many basic human problems; from disease to water shortage and poverty. Most people don't realize that renewable energy isn't just about saving the Earth by stopping global warming. That's a good thing, of course. But renewable energy is also about saving individual human lives, and elevating communities around the world above a subsistence level.

Our first projects will start next week - we're traveling to Tijuana, Baja California to meet with community leaders there and assess a solar installation for a school in one of their most impoverished communities. The next project will most likely be in Nicaragua, in a community that has grown up in the municipal garbage dump. They're in desperate need of clean water and have no electrical infrastructure of any kind, so solar power is by far the best solution.
We are currently ramping up our fundraising for these two projects. We have significant interest from corporate and private philanthropists who can help us get the ball rolling. But of course we need everyone on board. Anything you can do to donate and, even more importantly, share and forward our message to your friends, would be greatly appreciated.
Talk to you soon!

Dear Futuremedia,
Great question - we'll need volunteers for sure. I see you're in Santa Cruz (cool – I graduated from UCSC!). Of course you're welcome to come down for the Tijuana project, though I know it would be a haul from Santa Cruz. We'll be getting started on the project mid-September – we're meeting with the community leaders for a planning session on the 3rd of September, and then we'll know more. Please stay in touch!

How can we volunteer labor instead of money?

Shows you how good we have it here in America (although believe it or not it does happen in the US, just not so broadly). We're gathering donations to provide these free alt-power installations - we will also need volunteer support to implement them so please stay in touch!!
